| This is the view from the cafe on the summit of Mt John. At left is Lake Alexadrina, and to the right is Lake Tekapo. The observatory building is one of several up there. The astronomical facility is run by the University of Canterbury and the area has been designated as a gold-level International Dark Sky Reserve. The night time sky here is amazing. | |
