| John Robert Godley, founder of Canterbury, normally stands proudly atop this plinth overlooking the cathedral. The shaking in Feburary was so violent that the statue toppled off and fell face-first onto the paving below. When they came to collect the statue they found a time capsule in the plinth. | |
