Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, Saturday 4th September 2010 4:30am
These photos taken Friday 10th September.
All buildings within the CBD were inspected, with three possible outcomes (green: OK, yellow: restricted, red: unsafe).
Several roads were still closed due to the dangers of falling masonry and glass, or demolition work.
I didn't see any significant structural damage.
You can see a building being demolished. The building in the background at the far-right (with the arches) is very likely to be demolished as well despite its historic status.
The only damage I could see within Cathedral Square. This is the top of the building that houses the inner-city aquarium.
The cathedral of Cathedral Square. And my bike which I was finally reunited with today.
Some cosmetic damage on the Clarendon Tower facade.
Something's missing...
...but the seismic strengthening work performed on many of our historic buildings is what prevented catastrophic damage.
New Regent Street, one of our significant historic areas. No damage that I could see.
Copenhagen Bakery is open for business. About the best bakery in town.
A panelbeaters building on my commute. The building looks OK apart from what you see here.
