| The port town of Lyttelton was hit very hard by the February 22nd earthquake as it was very close to the epicentre. This was the Union Parish Church which was all but destroyed. I've visited the town a few times since and quite a few buildings on their main street have been demolished. This is just one example of a great many historic buildings which are being lost, and many of those remaining still face an uncertain future. | |
