| Then on June 13th we had a pair of earthquakes about an hour apart, a 5.8 followed by a 6.4. So more liquefaction came up. This is about the worst of it from our area but once again the people out east had to dig out thousands of tons of it, with still more to come in December. Many of them are fed up and while their houses are in the "green zone" they are sick of shovelling and want to be redesignated to "red zone" so they can qualify for the Government buyout package and move out. Some buildings sustained further damage in the June quakes but they were mostly ones that were already cordoned off and marked for demolition. We were back at work the following day. | |
